Location
For those of us who live in a landlocked state, there is no shortage of public spaces to gawk over. One of the more pleasant ones to occupy is the Emerson C. Holloway Park, which is a whopping 66 acres of sagebrush, sylphets, and other stuff. The park is located on Mineola Avenue, about a mile east of downtown Salisbury, and features a small but well equipped playground, a large pond for the area’s dog park, and two basketball courts – not to mention a plethora of flora and fauna. Touted as one of the largest parks in the country, it’s easy to see why it’s a perennial favorite. A great post!
Amenities
The amenable Emerson C Holloway Park has got to be the largest green space in town, and is also home to a plethora of feisty squirrels. A well manicured lawn and a small pavilion containing a couple of tables makes for a great place to kick back and take in some fresh air. Not to mention, it’s also a short walk away from some of the city’s other notable buildings, including the state’s premier military complex, the National Guard. Whether you’re into sport or a more serious pursuit, this little park is a place to be rewarded.
There are two main buildings of note, and a number of side squelches if you can manage to keep your sanity. The aforementioned International Faculty House is a stone’s throw away at 1110 Camden Avenue, while the nebulous University Advancement Office at 1100 Dogwood Avenue is just a couple blocks west of the former.
